# equipment

Each item inside a loadout is an equipment entry with the following fields.

| Field             | Type    | Description                                                        |
| ----------------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `id`              | string  | Unique entry id within the loadout                                 |
| `item`            | string  | Inventory item name to give                                        |
| `category`        | string  | Category for grouping in the UI (e.g. `weapon`, `ammo`, `medical`) |
| `name`            | string  | Display name shown in the menu                                     |
| `description`     | string  | Short description shown in the menu                                |
| `weight`          | number  | Display weight for the UI                                          |
| `deposit`         | number  | Per-item deposit amount                                            |
| `defaultSelected` | boolean | Pre-checked in the deploy menu                                     |
| `allowedUnits`    | table   | Unit IDs that may take this item                                   |
| `amount`          | number  | Quantity given on deploy                                           |

The `item` value must be a **registered inventory item** on your server. 5Code Loadouts gives items, it does not create them.
