# Deposits-and-Returns

The money flow that keeps officers accountable for the gear they take.

## Deploy flow

1. Officer interacts with the armory NPC.
2. They pick a unit they are allowed to deploy.
3. They confirm the equipment selection.
4. The total deposit is deducted from their **bank**.
5. Items are added to their inventory and a deployment record opens.

## Return flow

1. Officer returns to the NPC and chooses **Return loadout**.
2. The script checks which deployed items are still in their inventory.
3. The deposit is refunded, minus a penalty for any missing items.
4. The deployment record is closed.

## Settings

| Setting              | Effect                                 |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Deposit multiplier   | Scales every per-item deposit globally |
| Missing-item penalty | Amount kept per missing item on return |

Both are live-editable from the in-game Settings tab and persist in the database.

A deployment can only be closed by **returning at the NPC** or by an admin running `/loadouts:forceclose`. Logging off, dying, or dropping items does **not** close it.
